Interest, participation and player development are keys to any successful athletic program! This is especially true for football! There are AAU and travel basketball leagues in addition to HS hoops, there are travel hockey teams, spring and summer leagues and HS hockey. Even sports like lacrosse have grown to have travel teams, camps and clinics! There are no real football leagues other than playing for little loop or your school team!
Football isn’t a spectator sport. Having our guys participating and developing is key for me! Last year there was interest as there were 80+ players who tried out for one modified team and 60+ players on one JV team!
I wished things could be different! The Modified Coaches coached a 5th quarter for all guys to play and the JV Staff participated in some JV/Freshman scrimmages on Saturday’s. A good effort but a band-aid!
Fast forward to June 2023 and we have opportunities scheduled for the guys should the interest be there! We are planned and prepared to have a 7th grade MOD team, 8th grade MOD team, 9th grade FRESHMAN team, JV team and a VARSITY team all playing full schedules!
“If you build it they will come” is a famous quote! It is now time! Below are the presentations we conducted on June 5th and June 6th at OPHS and OPMS! Any questions I am always happy and excited to talk about Orchard Park Football! Summer work starts 6/26!
